REGINALD MILLER
Professional Piano Teacher
Teaching Philosophy
Lessons are given in an encouraging and positive atmosphere. Much attention is given to developing listening and reading skills. Technique, ear training and sight reading are covered regularly. Theory is introduced as an element in the curriculum very early as it fosters reading and understanding. Repertoire is approached with attention to stylistic and technical concerns. Students are encouraged to listen and explore for themselves.
Preparation for examinations, festivals, auditions and recitals is encouraged. Performance experience is part of the training a student receives and the confidence it instills carries over into other areas of their lives.

An Important Beginning
The foundations for success in music study are laid with the very earliest lessons. Finding a good teacher from the start is very important and pays dividends later in intermediate and advanced work. Bad habits which become ingrained from early study are very hard to correct later. A good teacher thinks long term about developing sight reading, ear training skills, pedaling and musicianship, a sense of style.
